Step By Step Guide to making ‘Tilamisu’
Colleagues gave good reviews of the tiramisu, all thanks to the generous amount of alcohol i’ve used! Now i know, they’re a bunch of alcoholics
So here it goes, the dummy’s guide to making tiramisu.
1. Mascarpone cheese 500g
2. 4 eggs
3. ladyfinger sponge biscuits 1 packet
4. icing sugar
5. cocoa powder
6. kahlua or rum
Step 1:
Separate the yolk and the white. You will need 4 yolks and only 2 whites. The remaining 2 whites don’t waste, either cook it or use it as facial mask :p
Step 2:
Add 3 tablespoons of icing sugar into the yolks.
Step 4:
Stir the sugar until it dissolves.
This is totally irrelevant, showing my face for fun. See how serious I am when making tiramisu!
Step 5:
Pour the whole 500g tub of mascarpone cheese into the yolk.
Stir the cheese with the yolk.
Until it becomes smooth and pale in colour like this.
Step 6:
Whisk the egg white. Note that this action is the most tiring one, however its a very good exercise to tone up your flabby underarms, aka chicken wing! *flap flap flap*
Yes… you gotta whisk until it forms soft white peaks like this… not easy i tell ya! If you’re a lazy bum, go get a electric whisk!
Step 7:
Fold the fluffy egg whites into the cheese mixture. Remember, fold okay, don’t stir! Until the mixture becomes light and fluffy too.
If you can achieve this, congrats! Your tiramisu should turn out fine. If not, good luck!
Step 8:
Pour kahlua or rum or chilled black unsweetened coffee into a shallow plate. How potent the mixture here determines how drunk you want to be.
Step 9:
Soak or dip the ladyfinger biscuits into it, both sides.
Lay them out nicely with 1 layer onto the containers you intend to use.
Step 10:
Spread the cheese thinly on top of the soaked biscuits.
Until the cheese covers up nicely.
Repeat with another layer of biscuits, followed by another layer of cheese.
Step 11:
Pour cocoa powder into a sifter. To ensure yummy-ness, i use Hershey’s!
Sift the cocoa powder on top of the cheese until its fully covered.
For extra sin, i added hersheys chocolate syrup on top of it.
Cover up the tiramisu with alumnimium foil or clingy wrap and chill it inside the refrigerator overnight.
You’re done! Try it! Let me know your results!
Tiramisu is a great party dessert especially so when you can be more generous with the alcohol, keeps your guests happy and tipsy.
